Kicking for Kids raises thousands for Florida children’s hospitals

Raymond James and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have teamed up for years to make a difference off the field as well.

Raymond James and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers continued their 19-year tradition during the 2018 football season – combining the team’s on-field success with the goal of helping children through the Kicking for Kids program.

For every field goal Bucs kicker Cairo Santos made during the regular season, Raymond James donated $1,000 to designated Tampa Bay-area children’s hospitals, including John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital  in St. Petersburg, St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital in Tampa and Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando.

On February 11, 2019, Santos and mascot Captain Fear joined Raymond James representatives at One Buccaneer Place – the team’s training facility – to present a check totaling $21,000 to benefit children’s hospitals. Since the Raymond James Kicking for Kids program began in 2000, Raymond James has donated more than $368,500 for local children’s hospitals.

“I’ve worked for the firm for 28 years, and giving back to the communities in which we live and work has always been part of our culture,” said Tracey Bustamante, Raymond James senior vice president of Corporate Communications. “We’re proud of the $368,500 we’ve raised over the course of the program, and we’re lucky to work for a firm that really cares about the community and allows us to have these opportunities, too.”

During the event, Santos and Raymond James representatives interacted with the attending outpatient children, their families and hospital staff. The honored guests also enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the training facility and photos of their experience.

Raymond James representatives, Buccaneers mascot Captain Fear, cheerleaders and placekicker Cairo Santos join patients and families from St. Joseph's Children's Hospital, which has benefited from the Kicking for Kids program.
